Spring fairy

Spring Fairy was the first documentary I ever made. The idea started shaping in my mind as a way to cherish, celebrate, and also grieve the memories we used to have in the mountains of Iran as children.

When I got more serious about pursuing my film journey, I bought my first camera — a Canon 90D. I tried to learn as much as I could from YouTube videos about how to film, and after about two weeks, we went to the mountains again. That’s where I captured Spring Fairy. I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out, but I specifically made it to send as a portfolio piece to Norwich University of the Arts.

I created both an English version and a Persian version. The Persian one now has about 10,000 views on Iranian YouTube, and the English version was the one that got me into the university. They thought the quality of the documentary was strong, so they removed the foundation year for me and even gave me a scholarship.

When I arrived in the UK, after a couple of months, Spring Fairy was screened at Cinema City in Norwich.
